At Adsum, volunteers play a key role, from fundraising to household operations, volunteers are involved in a variety of ways.

Adsum is incredibly grateful for the overwhelming response to it’s call for volunteers. Our community is incredible! We are not using volunteers inside the shelter during the pandemic, and we ask that you check back later for future volunteer opportunities.

Weekly/ Monthly Volunteer Opportunities with Adsum House:

Lunch or Dinner Preparation Volunteer

The menu is planned in advance to feed up to 20 people and all of the ingredients will be ready when you arrive. Volunteers assist with the preparation of lunches, dinners and weekend brunches. Lunch Prep is 10:00-12:00 and Dinner Prep is 3:00-5:00

Meals and Baking

Prepare meals or baked goods at home and donate for use in specific meals. Always nice to plan for these items if you can call ahead where possible to 902-423-4443.

Cleaning

Once a week projects such as the Laundry Room or other Light Housekeeping. This can be a great group project as part of Spring Cleaning or anytime throughout the year.

Services and Workshops for Clients

In conjunction with our Programming staff at our various locations, this can be organized around various topics based on your skills such as resume writing, tax preparation, goal setting, arts and crafts, personal care services, fitness classes, spa, haircut, etc.

Adsum offers flexible scheduling and an opportunity to use your talents to contribute in the community. Please fill out our volunteer application below. Tell us about yourself and your volunteer interests. Volunteer Orientations take place once a month for new applicants.

Group Maintenance Projects (All locations)

Organize a group of volunteers for a gardening, painting or cleaning project. This can be a great team building exercise.

Fundraising Volunteers

Adsum is highly dependent on fundraising events. We are recipients of many Third Party Fundraising projects as well as run our own events; Successful Canadian Women's Dinner, Mystery Art Show & Sale and Females Fore Females.
