Jeanne Beker to be Honoured at Successful Canadian Women's Dinner

Halifax, NS (April 24, 2013) – Adsum for Women & Children is thrilled to announce that it will be honouring Canadian broadcaster and fashion icon, Jeanne Beker at its 24thSuccessful Canadian Women’s Dinner this fall.  The event, which will take place at Pier 21 on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2013, celebrates the efforts and achievements of remarkable Canadian women.

Jeanne Beker is, among other things, a broadcaster, fashion icon, author and philanthropist. She has hosted FASHION TELEVISION for 27 years, is currently host of FashionTelevisionChannel, is a contributing editor for The Toronto Star and The Kit, a columnist for Metro, has published five books and, has her own clothing line. Jeanne also lends her support to a variety of charitable causes including FashionCares, Gilda’s Club, Dress for Success and more. In 2012, Jeanne received the Canadian Award of Distinction at the Banff World Media Festival and a Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award in the Arts & Communications category. Recently, Jeanne was honoured with the Academy Achievement Award by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television for her contributions to the Canadian television industry.

Adsum’s Successful Canadian Women’s Dinner is its largest fund and awareness raising event.  For more than 20 years, the business and philanthropic communities have supported this important event that brings out hundreds of people to celebrate the accomplishments of extraordinary Canadian women while drawing attention to the needs of women, children and youth who are homeless or at risk of experiencing homelessness. Past honourees include Marnie McBean, Annette Verschuren, Sook-Yin Lee, Anne Murray, Rita MacNeil, June Callwood, Adrienne Clarkson, Mary Walsh, Margaret (Kemper) Trudeau and many other notable Canadians.
